WK 1: Present with God - Day 4

Theme: Present with God

Scripture: Joshua 1:8 (NLT)

“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

Observation:
The rhythm of opening God’s Word each day is a beautiful discipline, and like any meaningful habit, it asks something of us. It asks for moments of our time, pieces of our attention, and sometimes even the courage to keep going when we don’t feel like we “understand it all.” (I’m right there with you!)

But just like anything else we’ve grown disciplined in, waking up early to work out, sitting quietly in a deer stand for hours, or showing up consistently for something we love, we didn’t get there overnight. We grew into it by choosing to prioritize it, by deciding it mattered, and by trusting the process.

And the sweetest part? We’re not doing any of this alone. The Holy Spirit is faithful to teach, to illuminate, and to help us remember God’s Word. He equips us with everything we need to take the next step.

This isn’t about perfection; it’s about drawing near. And every time we show up, even in small ways, God meets us.

Prayer: Father, show us the areas in our lives that deserve our priority. Help us long to draw nearer to You and remember that You are always with us. Grow in us a desire to meditate on Your Word day and night, so that in moments of need Your Holy Spirit will bring the encouragement and truth we need. Thank You for Jesus, who died to set us free.

Application:
Choose one verse to memorize this month.

Bonus: Pick up the book The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.
“Think often on God, by day, by night, in your business and even in your diversions. He is always near you and with you; leave him not alone.”

Personally, I know that the days I have to rush out the door without spending time with Jesus tend to be the days that I feel a lot warier as the day goes on.

Definitely. Sometimes it seems like the discipline limits the genuine connected experience of being simply present with God but we find more connection in the consistency of engaging the Word He spoke to bring us life.
