WK 1: Present with God - Day 1
Theme: Present with God
Scripture: Psalm 139:1–2
You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Observation:
When I was reading these verses, it struck me that the opening line sounds like past tense. But as I looked into it, I realized the verb isn’t simply past tense, it’s the Hebrew perfect tense, which conveys something completed in full. It isn’t just that God searched you once in the past; it’s that He has perfectly and completely searched you.
He knows you.
He knows you up close… so much so that He knows when you sit.
And He knows you from afar…nothing about you is hidden or out of reach.
So often we think we have to do something special to “be present with God.” But Psalm 139 reminds us that His presence doesn’t begin with us. God is already here. He is already attentive. We simply get to respond by being present with Him.
Prayer:
Jesus, help us become more aware of Your presence. You are everywhere, all the time. Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts greater than our thoughts. Remind me that I don’t need the perfect cup of coffee, the perfect journal, or two hours of quiet to enjoy Your presence. Help me simply be with You.
Application:
Read Psalm 139 today and share your favorite verse in the comments and why it speaks to you.

I value that God chooses to be present with us even knowing everything about us. Where we feel unworthy in our shortcomings, He still values the time with us. It is this time being present with a Holy God that shapes us far more than our disciplined effort. Thank you Jesus!
Psalm 139:5 “You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.”
nGives me comfort in knowing that I don’t need to feel anxious because God knows what is ahead and more importantly, He will be still be there afterward. That I don’t have to fear talking to Him or asking Him for something, because she already knows what is in my heart.

nThis is so odd I'm working on memorizing Psalms 139.
nI love 139:12
nEven the darkness is not dark to you.
nThe night shines like day;
nDarkness and light are alike to you.

Psalm 139 is my favorite! I memorized the Nlt version a couple years ago and it has been a blessing. I recently listened to a podcast that helped me understand the verses when David seems angry…Oh Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you…if you want to check it out search: Psalm 139 - Megan Fate Marshman
Verses 23-24 of Psalm 139 is part of my weekly accountability with the God. To begin a fresh new week, early each Sunday morning, I submit myself openly for him to search my heart and my thoughts throughly, to show me any offenses I may have skimmed over or missed in my quiet times with him during the week I need to address with him. I have then reconciled those issues with him, ready to move forward and take in the message of Sunday's sermon with a fresh mind, heart, and spirit.
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

nI’ve made this my prayer. Thank you, Lord, that You know us and lead us. All for your glory and our joy!
I claimed verse 23-24 years ago. It’s a great reminder for anyone who thinks they can hide from God. It also reminds me that he is FOR ME. Not standing in judgement. He just wants to know that I value the time I spend with him
I especially love verses 23 and 24 because they speak of such intimacy between my soul and God. I frequently go back to these verses when I feel I have drifted away from God’s best for my life.
